Fare Forward (2009)
Blown glass, copper, fibre rope. Size varies
'Fare Forward' is a play on traditional fishing floats. These are floats for modern times, having caught intangibles. The sealed glass balls all have have copper inclusions that are cut to spell the words like 'Time', 'Peace', and 'Love'...those intangibles we all hope to catch. This was my first glass work while I was learning studio techniques. I played with size, from large blown pieces that make up a floor installation and small flame-worked ones that I developed into jewellery pieces. I hand-tied all the netting from organic fibre rope and string.
